The Running Works was honoured to be chosen by adidas as the venue to unveil their new signing, Jo Pavey.
To celebrate,we invited a few friends to the store to share the surprise announcement . There was plenty of time for our guests to mingle and get to know each other. adidas brought along an Instagram printer so that everyone who took photos could print off souvenir pics to take home, a lovely touch.
At 12.30 a member of the adidas team announced the arrival of the special guest. Our guests were very excited to be introduced to Jo Pavey, who is a four-time Olympian and European 10,000m Champion! Jo thanked everyone for coming, then we hit the streets for a rare opportunity to run with an athletics legend.
We headed to St Katherine’s Dock and along the canal paths chatting away Jo, who seemed unaware of the buzz her presence created.
After the run everybody refueled with a tasty lunch provided by the Secret Frog Coffee Co. Fellow Olympian James McIlroy hosted a Q&A session with Jo and the audience had plenty of questions. Topics included how Jo deals with pre-race nerves and what it was like to compete at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
We are extremely grateful to Jo and the adidas UK team for choosing us to host this event. Speaking to our guests afterwards, everyone was blown away by how humble and engaging Jo Pavey is. She is very down to earth and keen to share her views and experiences about the sport she loves.
