As surely as day follows night, up and down the country shops are starting to put out their AW13 stock before we’ve even had a chance to finish putting away our thermals and crack the seal on a bottle of factor 25.
Thankfully, the release of new running shoes for the coming season doesn’t fill us with as much despair as trying to buy holiday clothes in July and August and only being able to find jumpers and long-johns where we expect to see bikinis and swimming shorts. Oh no! Instead we can replace our trusty, worn out pair and spend the summer breaking in our shiny new shoes in time for all of those autumn races we’ve signed up for. (That’s our excuse and we’re sticking with it.)
Here’s a peek at a couple of the AW13 running shoes we already have available:
adidas adistar Boost
In an earlier post we introduced the new pink adidas adistar Boost for women. Not wanting to leave the guys out we can announce that we now stock men’s adistar Boost in blue / silver / electric yellow.
No technical updates for this shoe, just the eye-catching new colourway. These are becoming more and more popular as word spreads that the Boost technology is not a gimmick but a beautifully cushioned, highly responsive shoe for neutral runners. This shoe is earning its (three) stripes and adidas will soon be releasing one of its most popular running shoes with a new Boost sole – watch this space for further details.
Saucony Guide 6
Saucony’s flagship stability shoe shown here in men’s (top) and women’s (bottom), the ProGrid Guide 6 has received an update or two.
New features include a reworked sole unit with deeper grooves in the forefoot to enhance flexibility and responsiveness; three independently responsive pods in the crashpad to provide a smooth transition onto the midfoot and a midfoot saddle to promote a snug, secure fit in the upper. Overlays in the upper have been redesigned to secure forefoot fit while the triangular lug design on outsole and an additional flex groove in the forefoot increase flexibility.
The Guide 6 is also available in an all weather Gore-Tex trail shoe.
Hopefully this has whetted your whistle. There’s a whole raft of shoes waiting in the wings for every type of runner, not to mention new apparel and accessories. In the meantime enjoy the sunshine, run safely and keep that brolly close to hand at all times!
